In late 1964, Ford hired Holman & Moody to prepare ten 427-powered Mustangs to contest (the National Hot Rod Association NHRA) A / Factory Experimental class in the 1965 drag racing season. Five of these special Mustangs made their debut in the competition at the 1965 NHRA Winternationals, where he qualified in the Factory Stock Eliminator class. The car driven by Bill Lawton won the class.

A decade later, Bob Glidden won the first NHRA Pro Stock Mustang title.

For the Mustang GT, two sets of action were available. Other new features and options for the 2010 Ford Mustang include SYNC, dual zone automatic climate control, an updated navigation system with Sirius Travel Link, a Capless fuel tank, and a camera system for reverse help to reverse.
